Due to timeline and geographic constraints, I needed to purchase a house sight-unseen in Anchorage. Putting down hundreds of thousands of dollars on a place you've never stepped inside is a BIG RISK. However, Bethany, Janelle and Isabel were AMAZING. They did virtual showings of multiple houses, gave me the honest truth about things and didn't just try to have settle, and were the BEST people to work with ever. Bonnie and Bethany recently managed the sale of our large house and assisted with our purchase of a down-sized house. Their help both times was invaluable. If you are looking for a professional and personable real estate agent look no further than Bethany and her team! My husband and I were referred to Bethany when we first started the search for our first home and I could not have asked for a better person to help us navigate the craziness which is real estate. As complete newbies to the process, she walked us through step by step and kept us up to date on all the details.
From the very beginning Bethany went out of her way to make things work for our schedule. My husband and I both work Monday-Thursday 7:00 am-5:30 pm, so we are not the easiest to get a hold of and had trouble making it to showings during normal business hours. Bethany and Julie both spent considerable time driving out to Chugiak/Eagle River at odd hours to make it possible for us to look at homes in this fast paced market. They never made it feel like an inconvenience and truthfully always made it feel like we were their only clients (which is totally not the case - I saw the board in their office and they are a super busy group!).
We found the home we ended up purchasing fairly quickly and Bethany was instrumental in helping us negotiate back and forth throughout the process. She gave us advice, but was never pushy which I loved. Bethany and her phenomenal assistant, Lindsay, were 100% on top of all deadlines and made sure we were taken care of. I wish I could say the seller's agents were the same, but quite honestly they were a nightmare. At first my husband and I thought it was the normal buying process hassle you always hear about, but it soon became clear it was much more than that. Bethany navigated their lack of professionalism with such ease, poise, and firmness. If we did not have Bethany and Lindsay in our corner I truthfully do not think we would have ended up with the home.
Overall, my husband and I could not recommend Bethany and her team enough. If you want to work with a pleasant and professional group of people look no further - they will get you into a home that fits your needs and do everything in their power to make it as smooth and reasonable of a process as possible. We met Julie virtually at an open house. She helped us buy a charming log house in downtown Anchorage. Couple of unusual things about the transaction: First, we never saw the house in person - purchase via zoom viewing only on several occasions (pandemic issue). Second, Julie's firm was the listing agent, so Bethany acted as a dual agent for buyer and seller. These two factors meant that trust placed in the agents was important. I first worked with Mehner-Weiser almost 15 years ago on the sale of my condo. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the building just as the listing went active. It was Bethany who called me - out of state at the time - to tell me that my home was burning. But despite the fact that they had lost a listing, Bethany and Bonnie continued to assist me with their advice and expertise, and connected me with an attorney. They were on my side in a difficult time.
Of course I brought my next possible listing to Mehner-Weiser, this time my childhood home, shortly after my parents passed away. It was another difficult time; I had to sell my folks’ home of fifty years, full of memories, loose-ends, and the ‘stuff’ that accumulates during our lives. And I had to do it while living on the East coast, busy with my two young kids.
I could not have had better agents, better partners, better friends, than Bethany and Bonnie and the Mehner-Weiser team.
